if you took all the emissions off the stock carb u can basically cut every wire of the pass side harness exept teh wipers if your using them...but the truck wont run quite right without all the vacuum lines "emissions"..cause u cant adjust the carb...russ can prolly explain it better than me..but yea u can ditch teh computer now

1. the stock carb could very possibly run without the ECU, but likely not very well since it is a feedback design. You'd need to stick open the diesel solenoid and idle air bypass. really though, I'd say leave it till you weber it.

2. There is no "emissions" equipment on the stock carb unless you count the gulp valve on the air cleaner. That vacuum stuff is all feedback control for the ECU. Since you took it all off, your carb/ECU thinks there is a very bog problem and is in "limp home" mode, running very rich. You no doubt noticed some improvement in full throttle power, and a decrease in mileage. Rich motors wear out very fast, I'd get a weber soon.

so getting a weber not only gets rid of the vacuum lines but also gets rid of all that wiring B/S on the passanger fender?(sorry to hijack the thread, but were all fighting the same war here! emissions)

How about using a 2.2 fuel injection setup instead of the Weber? They came on the 92/93 model year trucks up here in Canada and it works awesome. The changeover isn't terribly difficult either providing you have all the pieces you need to do it along with some basic mechanical skills. We have converted several trucks within our club and we have another truck undergoing the conversion over the winter as well. It runs great and looks alot cleaner than the stock octopus too. I don't know if this setup is a Canada only thing or were some US market 2.2 trucks equipped with it as well. Perhaps someone could shed some light on this for me? Thanx

there was a us B2200i, I had a white one. But they are very rare, I think finding a complete system would be hatrd, and no way would it be cheaper than a 400 dollar weber. You'd need the tank, the pump, the wiring, the ecm, the intake, the throttle body, the AFM, the injectors and fuel rail, changover to FI rubber line, and then put it all in. Conevrsely, you can do a weber in about 2 hrs. Good idea/alternative though, I just dont think you would save money or time.
