Bryan if you want deep bass get a vented. Them subs need air to really pound. You will hear and feel the difference between a sealed and ported box. On (2) 12's the ported overpowered the sealed without a question. Try looking on Kicker.com, they have the specs on there. Or go to Ebay. They sell some boxes for cheap. Be sure its what the specs on Kicker ask for.

I agree with the guy telling you to get a knew one its out rageous to get one fixed but ill tell you why it happend that L5 is not even capable of a 2000 watt amp the L7 is only 2000 so you have way to much power. you need about 1500 or 1800 and keep your gains at 1/4 to 1/2

as stated before, it also depends on what type of amp he has as to if it is " truly " pushing 2400 watts, cause that would have blown the L5 a long time ago, i used to sell kicker subs and if you tell kicker that you had more than the recomended wattage to the sub they will tell you to go pound sand, as for the question about selae dor ported, the L5 & L7 subs sound a hell of a lot better ported, if you call kicker direct and talk to there tech department they can telly ou the specs you need to make your sub sound just right
