NW MINI TRUCK COUNCIL ?

The judging sheet thing was just my idea. It's something that I feel should be part of the council... just my idea. That's why we need to get other people's input on other ideas as well. I don't to put rules and guidelines into place to tell how clubs should run their shows, or how many classes they should have, that's not our place. Let the hosting club deal with that. If they don't have an Open Bed RV Radical 4x4 class, that's their choice. But there is a difference between a judging sheet and a handbook full of rules. Most of the shows this season used the old NWMTC judging sheet in one form or another. But this can be a topic for us to discuss. As someone wanted to be involved in this, it's just a concern that I have, and have heard from others, that's all.What concerns me about getting this going again is that everyone sees different needs for the council's purpose. I'm not real happy about people wanting to support this, but if it doesn't go the way they want to, they won't be part of it. That's how it crumbled towards the end last time, and that's not fair. I brought up a topic, and now it's already growing out of control. This council needs to be about concerns and ideas. Don't threaten to not be part of this because I posted a concern. If that's not how people want the NWMTC, then it won't be.Where are all the other ideas about what we need to offer by doing this? The more I jump on here, the more negative it's becoming. If it's going to be an information source, what info are we gonna have? I'm already getting hammered for my suggestions, so what do you guys have?The ideas that I want in the new NWMTC (if anybody cares at this point) are:

A password protected physical mailing list. If you send in your address, you get the password to access it. This is a must for clubs hosting shows!Info about holding a show. What it takes, what to look out for, what to expect - good or bad. Have clubs that have held shows offer their input.A show scheduleMisc. truck info.A links page for businesses and clubs that support the NWMTC and offer discounts, etc.Let's get going on the positive stuff we can do as a group. Let's concentrate on posting ideas about what we can offer and do as a council, and an information source.

I dont think anyone is trying to be negative towards you or the council, there is a hesitation and that should be expected, it did not end well so its gonna be hard for alot of older mini truckers to welcome it back with open arms, I really do hope that it works out this time

I just want to have a good time at the shows. We are having a blast with our club and the Mini Tuck Mayhem video shoots. I wouldn't ruin that for a council I didn't believe in. Leave it as an information source under the NWMTC name, and that way no one is to blame for anything. That sounds good.

I have a crazy idea. If the NW wants to start something fresh, why not name it something new. a "council" sounds to political. and im a "minitrucker" till i die but maybe we should try to include all custom rides in the title somehow, make everyone feel equal. As far as the judge sheets go, were gonna use the same judge sheets weve always used. just plain old generic sheets. just use magical minis judge sheet. no one ever bitches about there sheet or judging. If you get to many people divided it will turn into some stupid shit like "i'm not going to that show cuz it not council approved" or "im not going to that show cuz the council is involved" i dont want to have to deal with that. its hard enough putting on one of the only 3day shows as it is. Just make a Northwest verson of Streetsorcemag pretty much, but only give the northwest clubs user access.

I definately think bringing back the NWMTC is a good idea, if done properly. It's really easy for these kinds of organizations to get very political, very quickly, so the BS that brought the last incarnation of the council down needs to be eliminated before it starts. I wasnt part of the last council, but I've heard stories..lol.

As an informational tool, it could be great for the local clubs. Being able to get in touch and stay in touch on a regular basis, share input on shows, a GENERAL judging guideline. We really do need to do something to bring the scene back up in the NW, and I think the council is a good step. It also needs people dedicated to actually doing something, being involved and able to play well with others. Not everybody is going to be be happy with every decision, and nobody ever will (read: compromise). The more info we can share between clubs though, I think the better the show-going experience will be for everybody around here.

I dont think Todd's intent is to put together a council that will tell you how to run your shows, but at the same time, it would be nice if there were some basic judging guidlines, so you know what you're looking at when you show your truck. As much as getting together and having fun are part of the sport, judging and competing are part of the fun too. It would be nice to know everybody is on the same page at least...

ahh yay! no money exchanging hands... nice one todd. The BBQ or selling stickers and shirts for profit to put towards funding the council is a great idea.

I also agree with chris on not having a "SET" judging sheet, that everyone has to have... but maybe as stated before my post, put a sheet up onto the NWMTC website... as a "you may use this if you like" for those clubs who would like to use such a thing. Leave the classing and the criteria of the judging to the clubs... so they can deal with the unhappy people, save yourself (the council) the stress of having to deal with it.

As far as rules and whatnot go, like said before me i agree that it would be better as like a information source, widespread and readily available for any minitrucker in the NW area to be able to easily find the website... and be able to get info on local clubs, contact info, shows, whatever. Which alot of us already have on our own personal club sites (ours needs some updating =\ ) but if we are all linked and all conected to one, the council (or whatever it ends up being called) I personally think it will help things look like we got our shit together up here.... and maybe, just maybe could help our scene grow.

Now it sounds like we're getting somewhere!!!! These are the comments we need to get going on here! IDEAS! That is a really good thought on the judging sheet, as in offering a suggested one clubs may use. That was the thought I had exactly. I don't want to force things, and make clubs do what they don't want. As for what Billy Bob said... I wish there were enough shows in thw NW to be able to "not go next year" if there was a problem, but clubs hosting shows have participants by the balls! Judging may suck, but not going to that show next year brings our full season to 3 NW shows. Yippie! Plus, there are killer shows like VISIONS that offers everything top notch, and is usually lucky to bring in 50 rides each year. WE NEED TO SUPPORT THE CLUBS HOSTING NW SHOWS, OR THE NEED FOR A COUNCIL WON'T MATTER! That is what I feel is the main concern on why we should get organized!Actual physical mailing list to send out flyers. When our club was going to send out flyers for our show in June of this year, we had nothing to go by for addresses except for our registrations from TLSOE! event, and the NWMTC club listing from 1998. Pathetic. Most club hosting shows don't have either one of those options. Come to think of it, I never even got a flyer sent to me for any show this year. I guess I'm glad I hit up websites to find out shit.
