make sure you go in the sequence(sp) that the service manual tells you!!! If you got a service manual..it will tell you in there what the torque specs are.

In the manual it states as follows: Cold engine(initial) 65-69 FT-lbs, warm engine (final) 69-72 ft-lbs for engines with timing chain. For engines with timing belt torque them between 59-64 ft-lbs. Hope this helps.

Your truck should have a belt. 59-64 lb/ft. Start with the middle bolt on the right then go to the middle bolt on the left, around in a clockwise fashion. Also torque them in steps, so start at 20 lb/ft and torque them all in sequence, then torque them all at 40 lb/ft, then the 59-64 lb/ft.

Make sure that the head bolts are clean, if you have engine assembly lube put a little on the treads, if not put a little automatic transmission fluid on them before you start. After the truck has been ran about 500 miles remove the valve cover and torque in sequence again at 59-64 lb/ft. If you don't do this some of the bolts will get lose due to settling and it will probably blow the gasket again in a year or two.
