I always wanted even just a little help in the braking department, that wouldnt require major surgery so today i found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda-Pickup-B-Series-Drilled-Slotted-FRONT-ROTORS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33564QQitemZ7996394267QQrdZ1says you can get them for 86-93 dawgs so im wondering if anyone has them or knows someone who does, i figure with some good metallic brake pads might help a wee bit. thanks

those are not goign to help you stop any faster. all they will do is possibly keep your brakes a little cooler. that and crack easier.

if you want to stop faster, the first thing to try is performance pads. after that, you need bigger discs, which means you will need different caliper brackets. after that, you need larger calipers with more pistons.

yes i understand, i know they wont help stop faster but these with better pads would make a nice package, i was going to type that earlier but i didnt think anyone was going to call me on it, just wondering if anyone has tried them. thanks for the input though, if i hadnt of known, i would have learned something today lol

ok, let me say again that these rotors will not help you stop at all. any kind of vented rotors will only be needed in track/race type situation (including autocross). for every day driving, and the fact that mazdas are slow, you don't need vented/drilled/cut rotors.

if you put those on, regardless of the pads, they are just bling. and they are much more prone to break, warp, crack, etc. especially more so if they are cheaply manufactured (as you can assume since they are sold cheaply on ebay).

just put in high quality pads and roll.

that's not the answer you want to hear. if you are waiting for someone to tell you the answer you want to hear, which is basically the wrong, or misinformed answer, then just go ahead and get the rotors and tell us how they work out because it seems you are already set on getting them regardless of the negative points about them.

hey, they look nice.... and they are ISO9001 accredited, so they are well made. with good pads, they will slightly improve braking, moreso in the wet, and bling your front end hard, especially if you team it up with there braided lines and new calipers

I think that is what Mark is trying to tell you, they will add the bling if that's your style but your question was braking performance. If anything, the braking difference you might feel from that kit will be from the pads.

ehh... you would get a bit... especially in the wet

yeah the cooler the brakes the better they will stop ,less fade wear for the pads and disc, less brake glaze..Plus they look sweet,go for it man

and my point was that you won't see those heat problems unless you are racing or autocrossing, either of which you probably wouldn't want to do in one of these trucks.

bling: yes
performance: not really

I'd get slotted, if anything, for performance. Cross drilled are definitely for street. They tend to crack in any heavy use (yeah I know, Brembo, wilwood ect. make them) but people like them so they supply them. The whole deal behind them was the older brake pads. Older compositions caused more gases and glaze to be produced which had to be "squeezed" out during braking. Guys started drilling to help expel the gases and scrape the pads of debris. Now days it isn't much of a concern with the gases due to new friction material. Slotted scrapes away debris and doesn't cut all the way through so won't introduce the same heat risers. As far as cooling, the more mass an object has the more heat it can take in, crossdrilling removes mass. For drag racing, go for it, less unsprung weight and thats mainly the use of Wilwoods. If you want performance go with the slotted only, it will eliminate the hydroplaning with water and reduce the chance of cracks later on.
