I agree 10 bucks isnt much. Look at the long term goal. I heard pipe welders make a killing. My welding instructor told us that pipe welders live on BMG Big Money Island, HA...HA...It might suck now but the future holds more potential.
Good luck, Scott

if i had a job offer out of state and it paid great, i'd be all over it. but if you need the health insurance right now, then that's more important.

i do agree $10/hr isn't much money, but a lot of times, having that experience is invaluable. i worked at a garden center for 7 years (age 12-19) through high school and college and became an assistant manager right before i quit. now everytime i go to an interview, they're like wow, that's a lot of work experience even though you didn't get paid much.

but with the way the economy is today, having a secure job is pretty important.

Don't production weld, you'll want to die after the first week. Boring, repetitive, waste of time, all perfect ways to describe production welding.

Do the program, get certified and then get an apprenticeship. I know that around here, pipefitting apprentices start at around $26-28/hr CND. It may take time but in the long run, its very worth it.

i will put it to you like this. one of my friends from high school did the program and got a job. they help him find the jod to so i would say that they will help you to. i not to sure how much he made but i do know that it was a f#ck load. the last time i talk to him he had just got a new 2004 dodge cummins 3500 guad cab turbo. the thing was loaded to the top. 10 speed, lifted 1000 ft lbs of torque, anything and everything you could get. he told me the payment and i think that i almost shit my pants. $832 a mounts for 6 years. that is a 60,000 dollar plus truck. he only made 3 payments and then paid it off. now what do you thing you should do ?????

I make 12 bucks as a student as a office, I do jack shit and I'm bored out of my mind, I'd go with the course, I'd shoot myself at this pay and doing this work for much longer... 500 a week, but if I'm not on SSM or another site all day, I'd go nuts

go for the course
