I had my grinder kick off the frame slice both my knees and the flap of skin in between my right thumb and index finger it f'n hurtI caught my self on fire grinding welds down on my cross member and had 3 cut off blades shatter in my face thank god for safety glasses.

Thank god I havent had any grinder mishaps but they scare the sh!t out of me. I had a call not to long ago where this guy was cutting a concrete header with a blade simular to a cut off wheel. He hit the rebar in the center and the blade shattered. A piece went through his chest and came out his back just below his armpit. I have really respected my grinder since then.

i was grinding once.. and took a chunk outta my middle finger.. 1/4 thick... 4 stitches later im good as new

ive hit my knee a couple times. The chopsaw got my fingers one time. Now i wear thick ass tillman welding gloves while doing anything with a abrasive wheel. the worst is having a wire wheel catch your shirt and end up slapping you in the face after it balls your shirt up clear to your neck. o and i dont buy grinders that you can lock the trigger on anymore either.

i've sliced my hand open pretty bad before with sheet metal before that sucked. It was like the fat part of my palm was hanging off when i made a fist. About 3 months ago I had a cutoff wheel blow apart on me. I had one piece gash across my neck. Now i've got this 1" - 1 1/4" scar across my throat right a the top of my shirt neck. It knocked the wind out of me and i got this really fluidy girgle noise in my throat when i would lay down for a couple of days. something called INTERNAL BLEEDING or something like that. lol

wow did any of you pay attention to the safety portion of shop class
i NEVER grind without thick welding gloves, safety glasses AND a full face shield, and if you don't have a face sheild then take the filter lens out of your welding hood and replace the plasic clear lens and grind away, you'll feel MUCH safer trust me. i went to a community college for welding and the first story they tell you is the year that a student was using a bench grinder and had the wheel explode, a piece of the wheel went through his face sheild and through his saftey glasses stopping only a fraction of an inch away from his eye.... you can only imagine what happened if he wasn't wearing either items.

i was talking to all the guys that keep complaining about almost losing fingers and having disks explode in their faces. yeah dropping a grinder on your arm while its going probably can't be stopped too well but think if you hadn't been wearing those long sleeves...
