just an fyi, a new carb or header wont let u rev higher...they will make more power making a much higher rev more dangerous...
but i took my 91 mazda to redline a few times...just for fun lol.
to rev higher...you'll need valve springs, retainers, probably pistons/rods and head bolts/studs etc. not to mention the fuel to make sure u dont run lean
A mazdas long stroke, narrow intake, and small ports means most of your power will be made below redline. Well below redline. You could teoretically get the engine to rev above redline, but why? You'd be so far out of the power curve, and you would miss all but the top of the poswer curve again upon shifting, you would actually accelerate more slowly.
If you are just talking about revving for fun, an unloaded engine (clutch in, zing zing ) is much more dangerous to rev than one in gear actually connected to the driveline. Be careful you dont zing a rod bearing, thats kind of a dumb thing to do sitting still.
