gas gauge in 2000 jimmy

Ok I have a 2000 jimmy with about 60k if it means anything. The problem is when the gas is around half a tank or 1/4 of tank when the truck is at idle the gas goes full to empty back and forth but while driving no problem. Any suggestions.
