Cold start problems

ok i hav a mazda b2200 i picked up and am working on it ran fine when i got it but after a month or so it started to act funny in start up a would tap the gas then it would work itself out now i haft to hold the gas down till it warms up its like the choke isent working how do i set it or is it controlled by the computer
