Question about grounding a valve

I am trying to get some answers for a guy concerning his valves. could you ground the valve to itself. meaning, could hae run the gound wire to one of the four screws on the top of the valve, or would it damage the valve, i wasnt sure, just tryin to find out. it the 3/8 smc gold valve
