so i decide today to take my truck to the gas station across the street ( the truck had no bed on it no tag headlights ) i figured it would be ok to do since it was only 1/4 mile away from the gas station, so i start crossing the road and as i was pulling into the gas station the state troopers was there eating and had just walked out to their cars i pulled into the pump and started pumping i went and paid no troopers there so i cranked it up and started to pull out and the ass hole was waiting beside the building, waited for me to start crossing the road and pulled me over to make a long story short i now owe the state of va 2200 dollars worth of tickets ...................... do yall think if i take tags and registration off it i could get out of them?

Your best bet would be to wait until your day in court and explain to the judge what you were doing there. print out a map quest thing from your house to the gas station to prove your lengthy trip. if at nothing at all, the judge may reduce the fines. (someone correct me if im wrong but i dont believe they can raise the fines anymore that whats in witting) If removing the tag off your truck still doesn't make the fines go away. it will actually make it worse. if the fines go unpaid and you want to register your truck again, those fines, plus fees will have to be paid in full prior to registration.

what all were you written up on? $2200 seems pretty excessive. just go in and be honest, these trucks arent legal even when they are put together but hopefully the judge; as most officers do look beyond that and let it be.

my buddy just went to court for an expired tag ticket also expired insurance, (at the time of tickets the cops had the vehicle impounded) they county here wanted to charge him 760 and suspend his license for 6 months, but got it down to 220 fine and no suspension. i guess it would depend on your county/state laws. best way to get any proper advice would be to call an attorny. most will give you free advice via phone conversation. best of luck

seems like you drove half a truck to the gas station. not being a jerk but i would have expected to pay for more than just gas. that being said, he wrote you for EVERYTHING he could. i've never seen a ticket for altered frame or bumper height unless someone was dragging! the door handle thing is crap too. tail lights and headlights....i wouldnt have moved the truck.

yea virginia sucks if your vehicle is not completly stock its illegal and any car coming thru the great state of VA has to go by Va law so they get to bust KY and TN cars all the time for exhaust window tint anything that isnt stock equipment ............ i cant wait to move to TN .
the only reason he wrote me for bumper hight is because he saw that it was bagged i have drove the truck down there countless times just getting gas but i guess if your playing with fire your going to eventually get burned .i should have of thought to go down with the car and check it was ok b4 it took it but thats what i get for not thinking

Bumpers are not even a required part, door handles offer no safety issues if they're missing (cept faulty poppers!!) and the windshield wipers not being there is a joke, specially if it wasn't raining. But honestly, no tags, expired inspection, no tails/heads, no seatbelt?? Be thankful you still have the truck.

Buddy of mine just got rolled out here because of a logo in the back window. Cop tried to nail him for everything. He walked away with nothing by knowing the law, to an extent. She (cop) was saying that the back logo is a visual impairment. This is true, technically, but in Cali you do not have to have a back window, or you can have it blacked out. So how is the logo any different than the stick family stickers that cover the whole back window of a stock car?? Or the Avon ad some chick is running on her rear window of her Corolla?? There is no difference, cept the law gives the cops the right to pick and choose.

Here's the kicker, he lives in San Pedro in a pretty nice area. Rollin' a bagged taco with his daughter coming back from picking up dinner, cop pulls out from a side street, lights him up, talks to him, then sits in the car for 20 minutes. Comes back with a total different attitude. She told him she actually pulled him over because his last name was suspicious. Really?? You ran plates that quick before you lit him up?? What a crock. Guess "Martinez" is a common name near L.A. or something. HAHA. He was clean as a whistle, but that didn't stop here from looking waaaay deep for shit. Just let us be. Most of our vehicles are safer than the stock shit on the road because how many mothers of 4 have crawled under their vehicles to check out how things are doing??
