Hey I just passed the 80k mark on my truck and the check engine light went on...how do I turn it off? Just unplug the battery or what?
The Doc is right. Check your manual that came with the truck. It says right there that the Check Engine light will come on at 80,000 miles. It doesn't mean your O2 sensor is bad, it's just a reminder to go to the dealer to have them look at it. Knowing it was going to do it, I was watching my odometer yesterday as it clicked over to 80,000. The INSTANT it clicked to 80,000, the light came on.
If you don't want to take your truck to the dealer swap the wires as the Doc says. It takes 30 seconds and it works, I just did it on my 92' B2200 and the light is now off.

There's a wire underneath the left side of your dashboard near the kickpanel. You'll see that there's one exactly like it that's not plugged up. Just swap the two and your golden.
