I replaced the stock rag joint on the column at the firewall. It was binding up, and made it difficult to turn the steering wheel. There wasn't any direct replacement joints, so I bought a generic one made by Sweet Manufacturing and adapted it to the stock steering shaft. I made it bolt to the stock rag joint flange for easy installation and removal. Obviously I haven't redone the bag mounts on this side, but you can see how phucked they are. I really hate cutting and grinding, so I have been adressing the little issues lately.

nice getting those joints to work, i had a bitch getting the steering done on a solid axle s10 i did... 2" body lift and streched front frame rails

Got the driver side done, finally. I was really dreading all that grinding. Now onto the exhaust and the oil pan.

Wow. how much shorter are those arms than stock? I just noticed how their mounting points are moved out. Also, why no gusseting between the frame and the back of the vertical cross shaft mounts?

They are stock length. Thats the same location that was in stock, it just looks different because of the way its built. It looks stupid stock IMO. But I made sure to put it in exactly the same spot, at the same angle.

And no gusset on the back side because the control arm bolts there. And there are gussets on the side that do the same thing one on the back would.

I want to add one on the front though, I'm just not sure yet how I want to do it. The way its built right now its the only way it clears the cross shaft, and it doesn't clear by much. But it is much stronger than it was.

oh i'm sure its better than it was, those things suck stock imo. they just looked like they were moved outboard, because you can now see between the cross shaft mounts and the rail.

i think it would look more, complete i guess is the word i'm looking for, if there was horizontal plate between the top of the frame rail and the back of the cross shaft mounting plate. that would alleviate some of the stress on that mount i think.
