how did you engineer your solenoids

where did you place your solenoids in your 82-93 s-10 doors. I used to have them under the rear vent pulling straight down. the problems was.....adjusting the damn thing. I really don't like the idea of a cable. Did anyone reuse/modify the factory rods somehow. I looking for something failproof. There is not much room inside the door w/ the window down. What are some of the way you guys did it. Show pics if you could.
