stackin blocks

I have a 3 inch block under my truck now i'm curious if i can add a 1 inch block i have laying around to the top of it and tighten em down to make a total of 4 inches in the rear... IS it possibe? Also i heard someone talking baout taking the middle leaf spring out to drop it two inches whats the scoop on that??
