i would like to use this thread for people to list off all the things that they have knocked loose, found loose, found squeeking, rattling around, etc.
i just redid my front suspension and something is loose, squeeking, and rattling around, and i cannot find where it is coming from. it is in the direction of the lower firewall area on the drivers side. i don't know if its on the inside of the cab, or in the engine bay, control arms, brake calipers, exhaust, etc.
all i did was unbolt the ball joint plates from the control arms, took the brake caliper off, and beat the crap out of the firewall for tire clearance. those were the only things that were taken apart besides all the fab work for the bag mounts. i have put the truck on a lift and shaken everything in sight and cannot find the sound. i also pulled the dash out and checked everything behind it. obviously i have missed something. so if everyone could contribute their "fixes" that would be great.
I had a tie rod fall off one time on the passenger side... didnt really make any noise, but it made for a fun time turning. found out i actually drove back home from school with it like that and didnt know it until i tried to back out of my driveway. the truck wouldnt move so i got out to look and found one wheel straight ahead and the other off in left field.
I had this dragging on the ground noise but I didn't think my truck was really riding that low. Come to find out the driveshaft will hit the gas tank (or part of it) if you are slammed. Mine was a reg cab static dropped 6"fr-7"rr.
I also had this horrible gear noise that I was almost %100 sure was coming from the transmission. I changed the rear third cause I had one and turns out the pinion bearing was shot.
^^i wish that were the only one. it pisses me off so much. i have gotten used to the entire dash/interior rattling, so i guess in time i will get used to this. its like every bump i hit it sounds like my truck is falling apart.
