MY ECU TOOK A SHIT, I GOT ONE FROM A 1991 TRUCK, MY TRUCK IS A 1993, I PLUGGED IT IN, STARTED RIGHT UP, BUT NOT REALLY RUNNING RIGHT, SOUNDS LIKE ITS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL AND SPUTTERING AND BACKFIRING WHEN ITS THROTTLED DOWN, HERE ARE PICS OF MY BURNT COMPUTER. ANY IDEA WHAT COULD BE WRONG? ARE THE ECU'S DIFFERENT PER YEAR?

hey man i dont know if this is correct but i had a simaler problem once.and i found out that there are numbers on the top where that sticker is.when you change them they need to be the same numbers.i belive its because of emissions in certain years?and thats directly related to the fuel management in that computer.

my buddy mike had a problem just like that in his 93...the mechanic shop put a rebuilt one in and it ran fine... i wonder if thats a part you can get from auto zone or something like that.

could you call the dealer and try to get the numbers you need based off your vin number perhaps?

Hope it didn't happen but it's possible when the computer went out it took some other sensors with it. I'm going to take a look at the computer I have and see if its the one you need, you can have it for shipping cost.

The numbers were like yours man, to hard to read. If you want I'll send it out. Have you tried replacing the oxygen sensors? If those are bad it will run like it will almost cut off until you give it some gas.

Yeah it sounds like a sensor, I don't know how easy it would be for you to do on your truck with the body drop but what you can do is just unplug the sensors and see if it makes a difference. Also I would check the MAF sensor it sounds like either oxygen sensor or MAF sensor.

Good luck man sensors are a pain
