NEED A MEASUREMENT

i am fixing my rear setup that wasn't done correctly the first time. i have already had to move the axle back some because the drive shaft was pushing too far into the transmission when layed out. since the axle was too far forward when the four link was done, how do i find out the correct distance from the axle to the transmission, to avoid any problems with the driveshaft pulling in or out? is there a stock measurement in a book? or do i need to crawl underneath another truck? any ideas?

stock wheel base on a regular cab short bed is 103". I think.

i didnt even think about it essentially being the wheelbase i needed. should i measure that at full lift, to be as close to stock height or what? just trying to take into consideration the arc of the axle, though it shouldn't be much.

wheelbase is 103"................ i also found out im too damn big to fit under my truck. LOL anyhow, as best of a measurement as i took. i have 52" from the rear of the drive flange on the back to the dust cover on the back of the trans. hope this helps you out.
