I have a 93 Toyota and I plan on doing a 350 swap. I was just wondering how much power can the stock rearend handle? I'm not doing anything special with the motor. Just 200-300 horsepower at most.

I've read & been told that the stock rear ends can handle a lot,up to around 300hp if not more!!

ive also heard similar..... its the constant abuse that will eventually do them in......... (drag racing, constant stomping etc...) go easy on the skinny pedal and it will be aiight.

I don't plan on dogging it. Just a little fun here and there. I just love the idea of a V8 in a little truck.

Youll be ok with the stock rear axle then...almost all the guys over in Japan/Australia use the stock rear Toyota axle when they do motor swaps.

if you want you can use a v-6 center section which is good to 500hp. 300hp is the limit for the 4cyl rear. But thats taking into account that it is in good shape and you don't run slicks.

For that motor I would step up abit in strength. 9" are dirt cheap. You can buy a brand new one fully ass. with gears and all for cheaper then rebuilding some rears. I"m going with a 9" in my ranger and my next yota project with a 2jzgte.

Dirt cheap 9"? I guess its all in the perspective. How much do you consider dirt cheap?
