well, i got the fitting i needed from another toyota tank at the junkyard today, took forever. now i just have to figure out the best way to connect two pieces of efi hose and i should be good.
where can i get a connector (barbed i assume?) at?
and how can i get the hose pushed far enough onto the connector, when its 30 degrees outside?
^^^^no one's done this before?.....well now i have a new problem. I unscrewed the brass fitting that is taped up in the picture below. The truck was turned off, obviously, and no gas came out. so I replaced the fitting with a new one that has some efi hose connected to it, which i will connect to the existing efi hose. but since no gas was coming out, i left it alone until i could connect the hoses later. i came back later and gas was slowly pouring out of that line(connected to the gas tank). why didn't the gas come out earlier and how can i stop the gas from coming out until i can find a way to connect the efi hoses?
sounds like its siphoning. raise the hose above the top of the tank or use hose pinch-off pliers to stop 'er up.
loosen your gas cap also because pressure builds in you tank as outside temperatures change
^^^that makes sense, cause it was only doing that during the day when it got hotter outside. anyway, with the help of dual hair dryers i was able to cram the fuel lines over a couple of barbs on each end of the connector, and got some efi clamps on it. it hasn't leaked yet, but ill keep my fingers crossed. thanks everyone for the help.
