Engine Problems

Well, I just bought a Mazda B2200 for a beater while Im building my other truck.106k miles on it, decent shape, for $500.

Well, the motor has some real slight problems.1: It smokes on cold startups REAL bad until it warms up.2:Rockers ticking until it warms up.3: Sometime the power seems to "surge" motorwise. It just feels like its trying to semi cutout.

Anyone know some simple fixes to any of these???
