How long before graphics?

Im gettin ready to paint my ride, and i plan on some painted graphics. After I spray the basecoat, how long should i wait before i tape off for the graphics? I dont wanna peel the paint up with the tape or anything. Think I could do it the same day? Ide like to try and paint the whole thing in a weekend.
