so... just got my hands on a 1965 toyota stout. i'm new to toyota trucks; previously, i have owned and done all kinds of work on a series of dodge pickups: two '85s and a '73. like the song goes, "i think i'm turning japanese". i sold the dodge trucks and now have an asphalt armada consisting of two '85 subaru brats, and now the '65 stout previously mentioned. tomorrow i am picking it up for the second time, and hopefully making it home to brooklyn. i had to abandon the first effort mostly because i was just on the wrong side of uncomfortable with the brakes. there appears to be a leak right at the linkage of the pedal and what i am supposing is the master cylinder. the only other obstacle is going to be easier to handle: bad battery. we started it up with a jump, and it ran with the positive cable disengaged, so a new battery should do the trick. which leaves... the brakes. any info about the brake system or encountering a similar problem would be great. i'm going to disassemble the linkage and see if it's something simple, and take it from there. also, i would like to start getting some leads on where to get parts, and what parts, if any, are interchangeable with other years, models, etc. looking forward to hearing from anyone out there. thanks, alex
