Ok so I noticed gas leaking as I was filling up on my way to work yesterday. Looks like its just a crack in the filler hose but, while i'm replacing that might as well do all the rubber hosing and fuel filter too. Figure it would be easier to remove the bed than t work around it. Any tricks to these beds or is it just unbolt and heave ho? Also on a side note found the source of that nasty sound in my exhaust.

Think its time for a new one and, might as well upgrade since it needs to be replaced anyways!

yup just un bolt it 4 on each side. then you gota undo a couple hoses from the filler or maybe just unbolt the filler from the bed itself dont remember. and unplug the tail light wires.

I'm not really sure what all I need yet, but once I get my bed off I will probably just replace all the rubber.

ok So is there a secret to removing the front shocks? I have never really messed with a coil spring front end before and I can't quite figure it out. When i try to unscrew the nuts at the top so I can slide it out the bottom, the shaft just turns. Is there a squared of piece that I can stick a wrench on or do I just grab the shaft with a pair of vice grips? And i am reusing the shocks till I get around to buyin drop shocks (still not really sure what my options are for them yet).

Hi hampton123,

Front shock removal:

I like to remove the front tires for better access. You do need the raise the front end high enough for the shocks to drop out the bottom. You can use vise grips or a 6 mm wrench on the very top of the shock shaft and then back off the nut. If the nut is rusted on, just cut the shaft under the nuts with a sawsall or other cutting tool. Then unbolt the shocks from the lower a-arm.
