MIGHTY MAX TIMING HELP!!!!!!

I have a 1990 mighty max 2.4l 4cyl 2wd my question is i had to replace a fuel pump i replaced plugs , wires , rotor, and distributor cap i went to time the engine but the previous owner did not put the timing cover back over the engine i have no timing marks ive been trying to get to top dead center but wen i do the motor turns and doesnt even attempt to start its getting spark and fuel can anybody help me pleaseeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

timing could be 180 degree off like the intake could be opening when it should be exhaust needing to be opening

the harmonic balancer should have marks on it if all else false's u might have to take all apart and reset the timmen marks make sure athat they r all on the right spot just make sure u got TDC
