man first i want to thank the couple of people on here who answer our questions real fast!!!
ok question... this brake set up... i see lines going all over, we are leaking out of a few here and there and i want to clean them up... well i want to move anything that will need moved when we do go to bag the ride now. I see this large prop. valve in the rear of the truck.. whats the spring on it for? and what do people who bag a MM do with this setup? can it all be slimplified ? i see it coming off the MC to some dist blocks in the engine compartment then back then front.........
really the questions is what can i do to simplify it all?
Seen some pictures of bagged mm/d50 and they eliminate the return line, and install a proportioning valve. Wilwood is one of the carriors. I got no experience in the matter but seen em on a bunch of trucks.
It's a load sensing device btw.
First off the spring is to open the proportioning valve when there is a load in the back of the truck to allow for more braking power to the rear. Second, I ditched mine altogether. I eliminated one line going to the valve from the front by blocking it off at the master cylinder. The other line I ran straight to the rear brakes. So now I have only one line going to the rear brakes and I have no problems so far. The truck only utilizes one line to the rear brakes until you get a load in the truck anyway. I have virtually no bed left so no need for the valve. It can be done many different ways and probably better ways but this was the cheapest and easiest for me.
so would i be able to just rip out all the brake crap and from the MC split to front brakes and one line to the rear then split, kinda like my s10 has, and maybe put a manual porp valve in the rear single line? if i could do that i would be able to get rid of 100 leaks...
You should be able to do that. I know the S10 brakes are a little different in the rear because our trucks have one line going into one rear drum then crossing over to the other side and the S10 I believe has individual lines going to each brake in the rear.
actually the s10 is a 3/16 line to the back then splits to each side of the rear, but ill look into this more and see what i can do to clean this up, thanks alot
