Hey guys and girls,
I am no stranger to automotive fourums so I will keep the chit chat down to a minimum.
My name is Brian. I have a friend that has an 86 Ram 50 that has a very unstable idle. The choke literally chokes the engine out, If it does happen to run it runs on two cylinders and runs very rich. I have managed to tinker with it a little bit and seems to have helped it some but not entirely. Im just curious to see what some of the common problems are/were and what to do to fix them.

Thanks In advance.
Brian

I tied some wire to my choke and ran it under the airbox to some vacume lines to keep my choke open

Cut a fuel line hose in half about a inch long and stick it inbetween the choke butterfly on the air cleaner stud

I have seriously thought about doing something like you guys have stated but once the truck warms up the choke opens up and is fine is there any way to adjust the choke on this carb? And does any one know where I can find the vaccum diagrams for under the hood the truck was repainted and had no stickers any more.

Thanks for all the help so far
