Been a member for a while but cant remember if I have ever posted on this forum or not. My name is Aedan, I used to own a 89 MM with a 2.0. I had soon after got it that I swapped in my 4G63T. It was making 500hp but than it went thru its first tranny. I had gotten a SR20DET trany in it with some fabricating. It was a good little truck but it blew up the motor and I ran out of funds because all my money was going to my DSM's lol. I have always wanted to buy another one and I am currently in the market for a 87+ 2.0 or 2.4 MM or D50. Prefer extended cab but will take anything.

hey guys im new to the site and this truck aswell. i just picked up a 85 with a 4d55 turbo diesel that needs some work. i tried looking but cant find a diesel tech section ? if there isnt one here could some one direct me to another page with a good wealth of 4d55 diesel info? i tired to register at mightyD50.com but it keeps saying the No Spam question isnt being answered properly....... anyhow thanks in advance for any help guys.

Ok qball i am now here i can try to answer the diesel question but keep in mind i am learning something everytime i work on mine.
hey rednec_d, im picking up a 1985 with a 2.3 4d55 turbo diesel, 209*** km\s. the guy im buying it off of used it for a daily driver up until last year, when he said that is slowly started to lose power over 2 or 3 days, he ended up getting it home, parked it for a month and then went out started it and had the same problem. so he gave up, anyhow hes pretty much giving it away for $750 and im going to pick it up next week. so im thinking that it could be fuel starvation, maybe the pickup pump? some ppl iv talked to also say it could be the injector pump. but from what i hear the chances of that are slim.... i was thinking of using a universal pickup pump from lordco, it runs inline and is electric. and as far as i know the original pump is mechanical? can i bypass the original pump and use this electric one ? and also do you know where i could pick up a repair manual? iv checked both haynes and chilton and found zippo..... anyhow thanks in advance for any help man really appreciate it.
Could also be timing, maybe the tensioner is slowly giving out and is jumping teeth. My DSM did this to me before and it was getting slower and slower everyday.
