91 manual to auto switch?

not exactly engine related but there is no drivetrain section so i thought this would be the place to ask.

i have a 91 ranger 2wd that has a 3.0 and a 5 speed......the clutch has a leak somewhere and it's going to cost a fortune to fix and it isn't worth it to me to bother fixing it.......

i'd like to just switch the tranny over to an auto and simply bypass the problem alltogether......

my question is this.

are all the ford 3.0 engines the same? will a newer 3.0 trans work on my engine.

for example an auto from a 2001 3.0 ranger into my 91 3.0 ranger?

itll actually be cheaper to just fix your problem you have, cuz youll need a column, trans out of a 89-94 3.0( newer ones are comp contorlled) and the pedal assembly and pcm.

the master/slave throw out bearing clutch kit hell even a reman trans is cheaper then doin an auto swap.

well the trans isn't the problem.....the clutch is.....and i paid 200 bucks for the truck so it isn't worth fixing at the cost i anticipate.....so i'll just drive it like this with no clutch until it stops working.
