transmission speedo help???

Okay here is what i am doing i am putting a 99 3.0l engine and manual trans into my 89 mazda b2200, cause the b2200 is just junk! i just got the trans the other day and it does not have the speedo sensor on the trans, know where it is supposed to go, but the tailhousing does not have the hole for the sensor, so i took off the tailhousing and there is no gear on my tailshaft either, but i can see where it would go there is like a snap ring groove and little hole, so do you guys think it would work to change out my tailhousing and put one w/ the speedo sensor on and put the gear on the tail shaft???? let me know what your thoughts are thanks

95 up rangers had and electronic speedo, but a manual drive one(pre 94) should go right in tehre and work, since the part taht spins the electric one is pretty much the same as teh manual one.
