Whats up guys im new to the forum and i was recently given a 89 b2200 2wd with a bad engine. I would like to do a 5.0 swap, i have one i could drop in it but im having trouble finding a kit. Does a kit for this swap exist? Also do the early models share the same platform with the ranger as the later models do? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Mike

There isn't a kit but from what I've seen doesn't seem to hard. Your year doesn't share the platform with the Ranger. 94 and up models share the same platform as the Ranger.

Check out the engine swap forum.

i think you have to make your own motor mounts and trans mount . among other things you have to change to do thai swap.

NO KIT NEEDED!!! In my experience, just take a grinder and widen your existing motor mount slots. Also use a drill bit to wallow the trans member bolt holes and shove it in!!! By the way I used Mustang convertible mounts. You will also need a rear sump oil pan for this also!!! My Windsor had a mid sump pan and I have to shim the motor up so it wouldn't contact the sway bar and steering rod. A 302 is slightly smaller so you may not have some of the problems I did but at least I'm giving you a heads up...You shouldn't have a problem with radiators because your water pump doesn't stick out as far either. I had to cut my front end up to get one in and a fan...Also watch your clearances between the headers and the upper control arms at the frame...mine were close but again you have smaller motor so you should be fine!!! Hope this helps...

Damn homie, that looks GOOD! Nice to see anything but a chevy in a different model vehicle.

I did not technically move ANYTHING...I slotted them for the wider stud to sit in the same place as the factory Mazda motor and trans. You can kinda see in the 3rd pic how thin the hole originally was also you can see in the top left corner the inch thick shims I put between motor and mount...And I eventually cut around the shifter hole to let it come all the way thru....had a bad vibration from binding against the ://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Del_Sumner/delstruck034.://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Del_Sumner/delstruck029.://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Del_Sumner/delstruck031.://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd492/Del_Sumner/delstruck038.jpg

did you have to do any fire wall mods to put the windsor in? and i know this is going to be an annoying request but could you make a list of parts you need to replace and what you used to replace them? thanks alot bro
