Air trapped in a cooling system will go towards the highest point in that system, so raising the front end of the truck the radiator cap becomes the highest point in the cooling system.

It's easier to learn that way than the hard way with these trucks. If it wasn't for the guys here and at MT I would have found out the hard way too.
