finally got an engine and tranny for the '66. I'm not sure if it's a 302 or 351 (heads say 302, guy I bought it from [who races Fords and has for years] says it's 351), but it's a running motor. It needs to be cleaned up some, a fresh coat of paint, alternator, starter and fuel pump...but the guy also threw in the chrome Moroso valve covers, a four-barrel Holman-Moody aluminum intake manifold, a double pumper 4-barrel 750cfm Holley carb (probably rejetted)....and a AOD tranny with a brand new flywheel and torque converter...all for $200.

I got the sheetmetal for the firewall bent up last Tuesday (sorry, no pics..still being tweaked). So, maybe in the next two weeks or so the '66 will finally get a beating heart again. The goal is to have it done by September...it'll be driveable by then, that's for damn sure.

Even though I'm not gonna go with bags anymore...I got some coilovers for a Jag to use on the front...but maybe I'll put those in the back and still sue bags in the front, we'll see.

hell, i dunno...but with that kind of deal, I couldn't pass it up. This isn't the final motor to go into the car, just a good runner until the final motor is built up.

I can get a 429 Cobra Jet w/ a C6...that's about 400 HP (underated)...BUT, the '66 is a unibody, so I'd have to strengthen the HELL outta it to be able to run it...plus it wouldn't fit without going to a Mustang II front suspension. I'm simply not looking to put that kind of money into this project.

The final motor will be probably either a 302 or 351, with most of the tricks done to it: balanced, honed, bored, polished, ported, triple ground, blueprinted, etc, etc...a real nice runner matched up with a C4. I'll probably shoot for 250ish RWHP. Maybe 300 if I go with a 351.
