Had the exact same problem on the wifes honda. Not quite enough spark. Tried new everything and it ended up being the distributer itself . I have no idea why that would cause it to have not enough spark but that was it. Put new coil, plugs, wires, cap/rotor and all it was was the distributor itself. Hope this helps out some
this happened to my 90 accord too, tried tellin me it was the whole dizzy lol i laughed cuz the dizzy turned fine when i cranked it, all i needed was the coil, $100, instead of the $250 for the whole thing.. saved me ALOT of money..
as for the mazda its pretty easy to set the timing right on them.. you should just buy a used pully, bolt it on set the timing, then put your nice one back on..
