87 Mazda 4x4 transmission

I'm thinking of buying a 4x4 87 mazda single cab with no transmission. does anyone know if they trans is the same as a 2x4 mazda? i would imagine the only difference is the transfur case at the end?
I'm only asking since I have a spare 5 speed tranny along with some other parts. figure i could throw my tranny in and make a complete truck.

No there not the same. The 2.2 and the 2.6 dont really interchange parts. The 86-87 trucks had a mitsubishi 2.6L motor, same as used in the starion.
