automatic trans?

just wondering, i got an auto in my truck and when i have it running and i shift it from park into reverse or drive nothing happens, just wondering if this has something to do with the safety switch or something which i don't have hooked up, any help would be great!

Do you have enough ATF? Is the vac hose to the modulator connected?

What do you mean "nothing happened." Did the engine drop in idle or did the engine engage at all? Just need some more info.

I would say not enough atf, if you havent checked it since you got the truck running then it had to refill the touque convert and the cooler, i would start there and hope thats it.

My went into gear without the vaccum line hooked up. I don't know much about trannys, but I put 1 quart in the torque converter, and then filled the fluid till it was in the dip stick with the truck running and in park. Everything is working perfectly in mine, shifts alot better when the vaccum line is hooked up. I have no wires connected to the tranny.

my trannies out as well no reverse,moves in drive and park forwards,changed the filter and fluids in the trans nothing.so maybe its time to swap yours?

quick question is the motor suppose to idle up in gears?mine did before but doesnt anymore?any wires to check or is it time to ditch.sorry for butting in.
