Help probs with fuel

i just recently cut my muffler off and relocated ma fuel tank. when takin off and slowin down i have probs keepin it runnin. someone told me its because i dont have enough backpressure in the exhaust system. is this possible? if so what is the best muffler to put on? i think part of the prob is the tank bouncing around, but im gonna fix that
