Low compression

I just purchased a 1991 mazda b2200 witch was suppose to have a carb problem so I got a reman carb installed and it wouldn't start it was getting spark and fire so I ran a compression check and it was 35 30 65 65 so what would do you guys think the problem is I'm getting prepaired to do a engine overhaul unless y'all kno what else could cause this

did you do a wet test and a dry test?

All I did was a dry check I'm gonna do a wet check when I get home

ok so i got it running today but it has a hell of alot of blow by and smokes like a train so im gonna do a sbc swap
