Choke? What do ya do?

Webbers I guess r where its at but Can u do anything besides disconnect it and rig it?

LoL wow I musta had a few beers when I posted that yesterday Im asking, What do u do when ur have a sticky choke?

Idles High.. Is there any way of a quick fix besides a rebuild...

weber or stock nikki?choke on the weber is adjustable on nikki it isnt.on stock carb best u can do is clean the carb and lube all the pivot points with silicon spray.On the weber the choke is electric as well so clean the contacts and pivot points and see if that helps.bj

might also pull the egr vlv, and see if it's cloged up....if so, do some "house keeping" and clean it & the mani with some carb cleaner. if I'm not mistaken, when they get sticky, the sensors will send a false signal to the ecu that the engine is running rich, and will lean it out some causing the high idle condition...also check for vac leaks, if one of the lines it off, or clogged, that might be causing the high idle as well...

** edit: well, maybe not a lean condition, but the sensors will send a false sig to the ecu, and thru w/e means of compensation, the engine idle speed is increased to make up for
w/e the root cause is...

I can see the choke being stuck open.... on the stock carb, and my egr light is on I have replaced it should I soak it in cleaner?

best to do is squirt some carb cleaner on the choke butterfly & work it back & forth if it will move, if not, the electrical part of the choke may have failed in the closed mode, & may need replacing, if the choke is sticking, it will also cause the high idle...I think I recall that the choke is controlled by the water temp sensor, if it went bad, that may be what is causing you choke to stick....just a thought.

I had the same kind of problem on my carb, but mine would idle high when warm.
It turned out to be that little pressure pot thing that stops it from stalling when you take your foot off the pedal at the lights after a good run.
The prior owner had wound it in to set the low speed idle instead of using the BIG adjustment screw.
I just wound it right out, set the idle then wound it back in until it was just touching.
