I am building a trailing arm watts link set up for my rear suspension. I want my trailing arms to be adjustable, so I will be using heim joints with threaded bungs. Being a trailing arm set up and cost effective I'm going to use quarter wall square tubing so my question is, can I weld a round bung in a square tube and it be reliable? I have not seen nor been able to find a square threaded bung. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

My brother has done that, if it'll fit inside cool, if not just weld it to the outside. Never broke one yet, and it was on his daily driver. Just make sure you get a nice weld on it.

Ok I was just unsure about if anyone has tried it before thanks for the info!

I have seen it done, as long as you weld with good penetration it should be fine - you can buy square bungs somewhere, I remember seeing them.

Cut a triangle out of each corner and fold them in on the bung then weld it up

I would not do that, it'll weaken the tube end.

The best would be to find a square nut. Or have them made from square stock.

How do u figure? If anything it will make it stronger. Ive seen tons of square tubing 4 links made using this method. Im guessing u arent catching what im saying.
