Ok seems noise is isolated to the trans/clutch components.Your choice is to do a full clutch job, that kit will include the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing IF you get the full clutch kit(like I did ).I would get the flywheel machined if not cracked or badly broken teeth on it.In most cases the throw out or pilot whine the most or squeal in gear, but go away if clutch depressed.I think I paid 84.00 for my kit and did this myself.I would suggest if you do this have the rear main seal replaced while your there.Idk what else to suggest until you try this and see if this corrects the problem.Ok and no idea on what a shop would charge if you can't do this.I suggested the rear main seal bc the trans dropped and if lots of age and never changed a good idea to do it now!

My guess is that a clutch job at a shop will be about $800.

And agree: if you or shop go in, do the entire job. And do it right.

well i jus took of the belts today when i went to replace timing and components and when i the ps it was fine. so now ill jus wait and get the clutch kit you were saying.
but nows theres another noise. the guys that helped me with the timing said it could be a bearing going out. its not really a whine as much. its more of like a weh...weh....weh...weh....weh...weh...weh. not knocking or tapping tho. its like a rotational sound. :/

and my idle has gone up a bit more. now instead of being right above 1k then dropping to 900, it stays at like 1100 and doesnt go down. i didnt remove anything vacuum wise when i did the timing.
