84 starts, runs, then dies

yup, it's the fuel pump. Doesn't make any noise when I turn the key.

Check to make sure it's getting power and has a solid ground first.

That's probably all it is. The truck has been sitting for a couple years and is kinda dirty underneath. It wasused as a yard truck for the local Pick A Part.

same thing happened with mine it sat for awhile rust got in the pump and stopped it up...replace fuel pump and make sure the tanks isnt rusty or it will do it again asap

I've already started tearing the motor apart, so I'm not too concerned about it now. My other 84 is a perfect runner, so everything is peachy.

ok so i pretty much have same prob...mine is an electric fuel pump goin to get a new fuel pump but not sure when. does ne one know where i can get one off another car or truck until then, mine is a universal one i guess...thats wat i was told ne ways... and does anyone know where the relay is for it the relay went out first...and my dad bein "smart" jimmy rigged it and burned up the fuel pump by pluggin hookin the wires up backwards....PLZ HELP!!
