defroster nightmare

Okay guys so here's my dilemma the dash in my truck was gutted at one point and so now I can turn on the heat just fine but my defrosters lever isn't attached to anything and I've taken a look and theres nothing there so is there any way to rig the defroster door open all the time? Winters comin and this is my daily. Thanks as always

The part where it connects to the heater core is in the driver side foot well on the core, there are 2 places where the steel line attach, one is for hot/cold and is closer to the gas pedal. The other one is the selector between defrost/floor/vents. Just move that one by hand until its blowing out the defrost and leave it. Or fix it...
