Electrical question

im looking at putting an LED scanner in my truck, and i wana know how do change the cigarette lighter 12v dc to 5v dc.

How many amps does the scanner pull. You could probably do this with a single LM7805 transistor.

So you can build your own circuit but don't have any idea of its current draw?

no i do, i just have more expereince with 5v

Dude. How many AMPS does it pull at 5 volts? If you can tell me that, I can tell you how to convert the voltage.
