Hey everyone, Was interested in putting my autogage tach in my truck..Need a bit of help.
It has 4 Wires,
Red -Switched 12V on Fuse block
Black - Ground
Green - Neg. Coil
White -12V Dash Lighting
I pulled my Cigarette lighter since i don't smoke, and was thinking of using the black wire as a ground, and if possible connect the red and white wire to the positive end.
Would that work ok?
Where abouts on the coil does the green wire connect (anyone have a picture?) and what should i use to connect it..(ring terminal..?..splice into wire?)
How do you have yours wired up? thanks a mil.
i used to have a seperate tach, made by sunpro i believe.
Red - i connected to the fuse box on a extra fuse spot.
Black - Grounded to the firewall
Green - to the coil
White - spliced into the dash lights going to my air controls
that help?
remeber the green wire goes to the negitive side of the tach or the tach wont work
at teh coil there should be a white wire if you ahev a fue injected truck connect the signal wire to that
it took me about 15 mins to instal it in my truck
Red to Fuse Panel
Black to firewall
Green to coil neg
White to dash lights
I connected to the switched side of the dimmer rheostat so the tach light will dim with the dash lites.
and I used a fork terminal on the coil so I wouldn't have to take the nut off all the way.
Happy wiring!
I hooked up a tach in my truck and it is only reading half. Do i need a tach adapter? has anyone else had this problem?
On some tachs there is a switch for four cyl/6cyl/8cyl. I suspect yours is in 8 cyl mode.
I have been thinking about putting a small tach in my truck, just to be safe. I really like playing the whole shift thing by ear.
Thanks for the info guys.
yeah i bought a little sunpro, and there was a switch on it. It was located behind the mounting bracket so i didnt see it. God i feel stupid........lol anyways it works fine now.
