I want to paint my truck in some sort of flat color. What is the easiest and cheapest way to prepare it for a spray can job? What sanding paper should i use?

well if you arent doing body work then the cheapest and easiest way is scuff up the clear coat and shoot it ,scotchbrite pads or 320 grit

and you mite want to get some adhesive remover to remove the glue after you remove the stripes

rattle can jobs look horrible no matter how much prep you do...I'd rather do the rustoleum paint job

I would use scotchbrite or 400-600 wet. 320 can leave some big scratches if your not careful. and spray paint doesnt fill scratches real well.

I'm not going to be able to do serious body work. Today i bought 100 and 150 grit paper and rubbed the grill with the 150 grit, then painted it with rustoleum black primer. and I picked at the stickers, they just come apart as i pick. any way to get them off?

get a smart eraser pad and put it in a drill... it will take a quite a bit of time but its the quickest way to completely remove the stickers and glue.
