Is the body part directly under the door called a rocker panel?
If so, mine is rotting out...
Is the best solution to cut out and weld a new piece?
My brother bought a MIG welder 2 years ago and he's getting better at it. We welded together a trailer for my 16-foot Jon boat last summer and it worked out pretty well.
Thx for your input !!

So... bring a battery powered recip saw (aka Sawzall) with a metal blade with me to the wrecker and cut away ???
I was thinking of cutting maybe an inch longer on each end so I can trim to fit afterwards...
Suggestions?

sorry, no can do... this is a work truck, as well as a daily driver... or it will be next summer once we get some mechanical work done first.

be careful, the rockers are a structural part of the cab. if you mess that up you're doors will sag over time when they're open.
it's important to brace the area too.
cutting the new rocker a little big is better than too small... and cut your existing rocker too small is better than too big.
