I am thinking about getting some 22's for another project... but i want them to be gloss black....problem is I cant find barely any black 22's...unless they have a polished lip... and I dont want a polished lip...

Basically, I want an all black rim... if you have seen the show on MTV Rob and Big, you will know what im talking about with Robs denali...

How hard is it to paint/pc over chrome? is it worth it? i want this to look good... also the bolt pattern i need is 6x127... only rims i have found that im interested in is this;

but its not dark enough, so I would have to paint them anyways...id also consider silver finished or any finish other than chrome...cause to me painting over chrome seems kind of a waste

Boon, checkout Eastwood.com site for powder coating. I have done powdercoating over chrome and it works out well. The candy (translucent) colors over chrome are very sick. They have a mirror black that might fit your need. Regular paint might not be the best bet over chrome.

Plus one nick or a careless tire mounting can ruin a very expensive project,especially paint over chrome.Powder coating is the only way to go if u r going to coat chrome.Most graphite or black pearl wheels are clear coated anyway (at least my graphite Enki's are) so they are much easier to paint.BJ

Its fine to powdercoat over chrome. You just need to find someone to sand blast them for you. We do it all the time here and have never had a problem yet. Just get the chrome good and roughed up or have it stripped off there.

You can special ordeer wheels from most manufacturers in a raw finish....it should be cheaper and better than trying to coat chrome wheels....

The current alloys on my 2200 were factory when I got them and all I had to do was scuff them with fine grit paper and then I had them painted and cleared /They look fine and I have had a couple of sets of tires put on with no problem.Get it done right and u should be fine.BJ

Paint will not hold up on chrome. You'd be lucky to make it one week.

Not sure about powder, but it seems logical that it would last much longer.

Even with powders you will get delamination and colour problems....the only paint designed to go over chrome is made by alsa corp and it is called clear for chrome...it is the only paint solely designed for this purpose and eve then it is not a long term solution....in the end you have to strip the chrome to do it right.
