has anyone moved the stock gas tank to the bed. if so does the factory gas gage still work. i am building a bed cover so i am not worried about what it looks like.

I moved mine to the bed and its stock, and I have no problems Just had to extend 2 wires and 3 lines and no problems.

yeah, it will work fine...the gauge is just an electronic sending unit, and it will work regardless of where it's mounted...as long as the tank is mounted with the top up....But I wouldn't put it under a non veneted ebdcover though....

Good point - although most bed covers don't seal air tight, it is definately something to consider.

Doesn't matter if it 100 percent airtight or not....when you fill your tank the vapour will come out of the tank and settle in the bed.....I wouldn't even take the chance.

my bed will be cut out for the notches, I was thinking of putting it by the tailgate and putting my air tank in the front behind the cab, I am building a custom bedcover and i didn't even consider any way of venting the tank, but that is something to think about
